CANCER CANNOT SURVIVE IN AN ALKALINE ENVIRONMENT!

How to maintain a healthy alkaline body balance for optimal health.

What many people don’t know is that some of the foods they eat negatively affect their alkaline/acid balance. The human body is a naturally alkaline environment. When you consumes an overly acidic diet, it throws off your body’s healthy pH balance, which makes you susceptible for illness and disease. In fact, when your body’s pH balance is too acidic, you are at an elevated risk of suffering from heart disease, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, and other diseases.

Another great reason why you should work to promote a healthy alkaline balance is because cancer cannot survive in an alkaline environment. On the pH scale, which ranges from one to fourteen, fourteen being highly alkaline, the human body should be about 7.4 naturally. At a pH of 8.5, cancer cells can no longer survive. Therefore, a high alkaline diet can potentially decrease your risk of cancer or even help fight the disease.

How to Control the Body’s PH Levels Through Diet:

The best way to support a healthy acidic-alkaline balance within the body is to consume diet that is composed of 50% to 80% alkaline foods. For proper nutrition, it is still necessary to consume some acidic foods. These foods should just be limited to less than half of your diet.

While alkaline foods are extremely healthy, it can be very difficult to maintain a high alkaline diet. You must limit highly processed foods, sugary foods, fruits, meat, alcohol, coffee and soda, as these are VERY acidic.

Unfortunately, these foods can be difficult to cut back on, since they make up the majority of many people’s diets. However, it is important to remember that people who consume a great deal of acidic foods are generally those that are constantly ill or suffer from disease. You must also remember that you do not have to avoid acidic foods completely, but simply limit them to around 20% to 40% of their diet.

What Can You Expect From a High Alkaline Diet?

Consuming a high alkaline diet can do wonders for your health. People that are frequently lethargic, anxious, irritable, and/or suffer from frequently colds or nasal congestion can benefit from a high alkaline diet. An alkaline diet can help prevent against the flu and even help the body produce less mucous.

Women that suffer from benign breast cysts or ovarian cysts can also benefit from a high alkaline diet. This diet can also protect the bones from osteoporosis, the muscles from losing mass, and help to prevent kidney stones. These are so many benefits from a high alkaline diet that many people never stop to consider. Even those concerned with losing weight will be happy to see what this diet can do for their body. Eating to support a healthy alkaline body balance will help you lose weight, prevent disease, and support great overall health.

ALL leafy greens should be eaten in abundance but spinach is my absolute favorite because it’s easy to buy, easy to use in recipes and salads and is delicious. Baby spinach or fully grown spinach are nutritional powerhouses and are incredibly alkaline. I doubt there is a more all round healthy food on earth and I highly encourage you to eat spinach throughout the day, every day.

Kale is another leafy green beauty that is widely known for its cancer-fighting, cholesterol-lowering, antioxidant-rich, detoxifying goodness.

he beauty of cucumber is it’s water content – 95%. That is phenomenal and you won’t find that anywhere else. It’s the daddy of water-content. This of course makes it an incredibly hydrating food to consume, that ALSO contains superb amounts of antioxidants, including the super-important lignans. These highly beneficial polyphenols have more commonly been associated with the cruciferous vegetables, but their content in other veggies such as cucumbers is gaining more and more attention.

Broccoli is just a must. If you are serious about living with health, energy and vitality you simply have to eat broccoli, if not on a daily basis, then at least 4 times per week. Broccoli has been proven over and over and over again to be incredibly powerful in inhibiting cancers, supporting the digestive system, the cardiovascular system, the detoxification processes in the body and also supporting the skin, metabolism, immune system, being an anti-inflammatory and providing ample antioxidants.

I eat a LOT of avocado. Not a salad, smoothie, DIP or soup goes by without me adding at least 1/2 an avocado per person. I probably eat at least five-seven per week, myself. Now, I know a lot of people give avocado a bad rep because it is a high-fat food (85% of it’s calories come from fats) – but this is totally insane. These are good fats that will not make you gain weight. If anything, due to the high content of oleic acid (making it an omega 9 fat and very similar to olive oil), it can lower total cholesterol level and raise levels of high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) while lowering low-density lipoproteins (LDLs), also known as the “bad” cholesterol. Oleic acid also slows the development of heart disease, and promotes the production of antioxidants. These beneficial omega oils also help speed the metabolism, actually leading to weight loss rather than gain. So now we’re over the fat issue, avocado also contains a wide range of other nutrients that have serious anti-inflammatory, heart health, cardiovascular health, anti-cancer, and blood sugar benefits.

Celery, like cucumber is a favourite because it’s alkaline AND really high water content, so is used very frequently as a base in juices and soups. One of celery’s big benefits is it’s vitamin C level.

The antioxidant superpower, bell pepper is one of my all-time-favorites because it is sweet, crunchy and refreshingly delicious. You can use it in almost any meal raw, grilled, fried, roasted and it is always a winner.

3 Steps to DETOX

1. DRINK WATER!!!!!

Too often we misinterpret thirst for hunger. Our signal for thirst may cause us to eat as we mistake it for hunger pains. Reach for water first and make sure you are well hydrated before eating any meal throughout the day.

Where possible make sure to drink your water at least 30 minutes before eating as this will allow time for the water to properly penetrate the cells of your body and hydrate your stomach lining in preparation for proper digestion. I like to add lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to my water or chlorella.(see the bottom of this post for more info on Chlorella)Start your day with a mug of hot water poured over lemon. It fires up the stomach getting it ready for the day. Drink as many of these throughout the day as you'd like.

2. Add Greens to Your Diet... & Lots of Them!
Green juices are an amazing way to add life giving and detoxifying plant chlorophyll to
your bloodstream. Some of my favorite and simple green juice recipes include:

Green Juice Recipe Ideas:
- Celery, lemon and pear (or apple)
- Celery, cucumber, lemon (leave the skin on) and pear (or apple)
- Celery, cucumber, kale, lemon and pear (or apple)
- Celery, cucumber, lemon, parsley and pear (or apple)
I also like to stir chlorella.

Here are 3 of my family's favorite juice recipes: ENJOY!!!!!
SUPER JUICE
1/2 lime peeled(or lemon) 2 apples - not granny smith(to sour) 1/4 pineapple - can juice with the rind if it is washed good and organic 1/4 cucumber Juice the above then add to blender with: 1/4 avacado and 4 chlorella tablets. Blend until smooth. Serve over ice. Can also be diluted with 1/2 cup water to make it go a little further! So delicious!

SUPER DETOX JUICE
2 apples 1/4 cucumber 1 stick celery 1 handful of spinach 1 handful of greens (including watercress, parsley, lettuce, etc...) Juice the above and serve on ice. This juice is exceedingly good for the body!

FAMILY FAVORITE ANYTIME PASSION JUICE
1/4 pineapple 1 apple 1/4 banana 1 cup yogurt 2 chlorella tablets Juice apple and pineapple then blend with remaining ingredients. Serve over ice. I also like to add a couple of juiced carrots and/or a handful of spinach or greens to this. Even the grandchildren beg for me to make this juice. Very delicious!

3. DEEP BREATH
You can purchase all sorts of vitamins, herbs, minerals, etc... for your health, but the cheapest and most effective thing you can do is to DEEP BREATH. Deep breathing, where you fill your belly and expand your diaphragm downwards, is one of the most powerful exercise you can do to activate your lymph system which helps to detoxify your body. Think of your lymph system as your own personal garbage removal system (which most of us will need in full steam after the holiday season). You can do this exercize watching the TV, walking the dog, or during meditation.

According to the 'Tao of Breathing' up to 70% of our body’s waste products are eliminated via our lungs and the rest through the urine, skin and feces. When the efficiency of our lungs is reduced due to poor breathing less oxygen is available to our cells, it slows down the flow of blood which carries wastes from the kidneys and lungs. Our lymphatic system which fights off viral and bacterial invaders is weakened along with a slower digestive process.

Breathe long slow and deep in a mindful state as often as possible. As you deep breath, pull your chin to the sky and then return to chest on exhale. Do a minimum of 20 beep breaths.

Now about Chlorella:

Chlorella is a fresh water, single-celled algae that grows in fresh water. Chlorella emerged over 2 billion years ago, and was the first form of a plant with a well-defined nucleus. Because Chlorella is a microscopic organism, it was not discovered until the late 19th century, deriving its name from the Greek, "chloros" meaning green and "ella" meaning small. In fact that chlorella contains the highest amount of chlorophyll of any known plant.

It is thought to boost the immune system and help fight infection. It has been shown to increase the good bacteria in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which helps to treat ulcers, colitis, diverticulosis and Crohn's disease. It is also used to treat constipation, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
